Hi!

My name is Srabasti. My pronouns are she/her. I'm a writer and creative professional based in Goa (where I moved to on a whim). I enjoy writing poetry the most however, my larger research has been based on gender politics, spatial politics, city, the culture of Delhi and literary techniques.

I'm presently working on my book titled "An Amaltas Tree in the Ladies' Compartment" and I'm in the process of curating poetry workshops in Goa and online.

In my free time, I maintain an art journal, cook really spicy food that my flatmates can't handle, and dance alone in my room to hip-hop music. I also really hate the feeling of socks getting wet when you're still wearing them.

EXPERIENCE

Western Oregon University — Transcription
March 2020- September 2020
This was an important freelance job for me. I worked with an artist from the university, Garima Thakur, where my primary job was to transcribe interviews. However, I assisted her with the ideation and conceptualization of her artwork which was displayed in Oregon. I worked for the most part of the pandemic on this project.

The Partition Museum, Amritsar, Town Hall— Transcription (Bangla to English)
June 2019 - July 2019
Here at the office of The Partition Museum in Delhi, I worked with video documents of archival material, doing transcription work and translation work. The work also required me to conduct interviews with partition survivors who reside in Delhi.

Delhi Food Walks — Food Tour Guide
2018 - 2019
This might be an odd profession for a writer but it was probably one of the best jobs that taught me so many things about writing fiction. I wrote about Delhi, as mentioned above, and about women’s stories. Since
this job required me to roam around Puraani Delhi, on foot, with my guests, I heard, learned, and inherited stories that I might not have if not for this job.

J. Walter Thompson- Junior Copywriter
June 2018- July 2018
Here I worked mostly around manifestos for advertisements and one of my primary achievements here was to write a pitch for a Food Panda ad. Besides, I was involved with the conceptualizing of a new Pepsi ad, towards the
end of my internship.

University Express — Columnist and Photojournalist
September 2017 - May 2018
